Our Services

Electrical

The electrical system of your car is essential for its correct, reliable, and safe performance.

When your car ages, wires become brittle, cracked, dried out, and develop bare spots. These causes electrical failures or malfunctions.

From replacing a single wire to replacing the entire wiring harness, at Indy Classics Garage we would provide your car with the care it needs.

Older rides are built on a 6 volt system. These systems can be tricky to maintain and keep in good working order. If care for them properly, they are amazingly reliable. Some customers prefer upgrading these all 6 volt systems to a more modern 12 volts. Whether it is a stubborn blinker, the old horn not working or you need to replace or upgrade your fuse box, let us help you.

Sometimes the restored friend deserves a manual transmission. Chassis paint and powder coating. Undercarriage finish and rubber coating.

Engine Rebuild

Rebuilding an engine is necessary when the old engine is stuck.

Often we rebuild engines with high mileage to improve performance, add power, or as a part of a full restoration. Loss of or low compression and increased oil consumption are other frequent indications for engine rebuilding.

When the motor comes off the car, it is a great time for both upgrades and cosmetics. Block and heads paint, intake replacement or restoration, ignition, etc.

Most classic motors have a characteristic color: it is the orange Chevrolet, blue Ford, or the metallic green Buick.

Over time the paint comes off due to wear, engine fluids, heat, etc. Engine painting adds a tremendous amount of appeal to the engine compartment, as well as improving the driving experience.

Brakes

Brakes are the most common wear parts, along with tires, that your car needs to be road-worthy and safe to drive. Brake pads or shoes replacement, cleaning/turning drums, etc.

Often people need to update the brake system. Going from drums and shoes to discs and calipers, or from replacing regular discs for drilled and slotted.

Powder or ceramic coating drums and calipers adds a lot of appeal to the overall stance of a car.

Flushing a brake system periodically maintains reliability on its performance.

Brake lines, brake boosters, bleeding valves, and fluid need periodical maintenance and occasional replacement.

Clutch

Clutches are a wear component of manual transmissions. The most common indication that the clutch needs replacement is transmission slippage.

Replacing or rebuilding old clutches requires removing the transmission. In some cars, this cannot be done without removing the entire engine.

Some people opt to upgrade their old clutch for something more modern. Older friction discs degrade and wear more easily than the newer versions.

Some clutches are not strong enough to withstand the use and abuse of an enhanced or high-performance engine.

Whatever the need, we are happy to take a look and restore your clutch to its original glory or take it to the next level.

Steering

We replace, repair, upgrade, and refurbish steering components.

Adding power steering, flushing systems, rebuilding or replacing steering pumps are some of the services we offer.

Rack and pinion work, lubricating, changing boots, tie-rod ends replacement are common maintenance needs of older cars. These components are crucial for both safety and performance.

We refinish these components as well to add to the engine compartment appeal: powder coating, chrome, paint.

Upgrading steering columns and gearboxes are frequent requests from customers seeking comfort and from those making their beloved classic a daily driver.

Interior

A nice interior is not only comfortable and helps to keep your classic car clean and smelling good, but it is also a great complement to a great paint job.

At Indy Classics Garage we restore interiors to their original splendor as well as building the one of your dreams on the car you love.

Choosing the right color, the right material, stitching, and pattern combination can be challenging.

We can help designing the interior that best matches your car as well as showcases your ride.

Tune up and Carburetion

Having your old engine adjusted for maximum performance is vital.

Older, carburetor engines need periodic adjustment, specially if they are not driven in a frequent, consistent basis.

Replacing spark plugs, cables, distributor adjustment, cleaning/ replacing points, adjusting dwell angle, etc.

These simple maintenances can make a tremendous difference in performance and reliability.

This is particularly true after a period of not running the engine or prolonged storage.

At Indy Classics Garage we provide these services and more.

Often customers want to upgrade to electronic ignition systems or electronic fuel injection.

Replacing carburetors to increase performance or to add cosmetic appeal, such as polished aluminum versions or colors or rebuilding the original one, are common.

Maintaining fuel pumps, lines, replacing fuel filters are also much needed regular tasks to keep your classic starting and running as it should.

suspension

Suspension

Suspension systems are perhaps what has progressed the most in terms of safety and comfort during the years.

From leaf spring suspensions in the first quarter of the 20th Century to the intelligent, self adjusting coil over suspension to air rides.

Restoration for the most purist of car lovers is becoming more difficult on the older systems.

We replace, add, and refurbish leaf springs, as well as strengthening them. We have the experience, knowledge, and expertise to take care of your old, classic, beloved car.

Upgrading suspension and installing newer, more comfortable, safer suspension systems to classic cars takes careful craftsmanship and some degree of fabrication.

At Indy Classics Garage we dedicate a lot of time to ensure the proper fitting and safe performance of your car while preserving the looks you love.

Body work and paint

At Indy Classics Garage we take on all levels and depths of body work, always with the outmost quality and attention to detail. From rebuffing a paint to a full body work.

We touch up and repair small scratches and dings, as well as strip the car to bare metal and apply and new refinish of your choice.

Powder coating or rubber coating chassis is another service we provide. Undercoating a car protects your beloved classic from rust and corrosion.

Painting and restoring the body of an old classic to its original glory or refinishing to match someone’s dream is a time-consuming work of art.

We take pride in each finish product as a great paint job showcases your love, passion, and vision for your car like little else.
